Cotidianamente milhares de meninas e mulheres em todo o mundo estão expostas à diferentes tipos de violências baseadas em seu gênero, em ser mulher. A violência de gênero é uma violência estrutural que traz consigo diversas questões e problemáticas que foram silenciadas ao longo dos anos. Hoje, no dia em que é celebrado simbolicamente a luta das mulheres em busca dos seus direitos e do seu papel ativo na sociedade, precisamos lembrar das meninas e mulheres migrantes e refugiadas que estão a cruzar as fronteiras diariamente.

O que essas meninas e mulheres migrantes encontram neste caminho em busca da liberdade, da vida e da sua autonomia; é frequentemente o cativeiro, a morte e a ameaça. Não podemos esquecer que a violência contra a mulher inclui a coerção, a privação da liberdade e a perseguição, como formas de perpetuar a subordinação e a opressão das mulheres. As condições listadas acima são quase que vivenciadas diariamente pelas centenas de meninas e mulheres migrantes, refugiadas e que se encontram em situação de deslocamento forçado devido às guerras, aos governos opressores, às religiões fundamentalistas e abusivas e aos perigosos jogos de poder da nossa sociedade patriarcal.

Hoje queremos exaltar a luta das meninas jovens e migrantes vítimas do casamento forçado, que se arriscam cruzando as fronteiras, na certeza de que querem continuar a viver e a construir um futuro distante do abuso e da opressão. Exaltamos as mães migrantes e grávidas que deixam a sua terra natal em busca de um futuro digno para os seus filhos, longe da perseguição racial e política. Exaltamos as centenas de mulheres migrantes idosas, que continuam a ter esperança de um dia reencontrarem e reconstruírem as suas famílias afetadas pelos horrores da guerra e dos conflitos internacionais. Exaltamos as mulheres transexuais e migrantes, que têm a coragem de refazer a sua história longe da violência e da perseguição religiosa. Exaltamos as meninas migrantes que vivem em centros de detenção para imigrantes, confinadas, separadas das famílias e vítimas do tráfico humano, e que até hoje sonham em brincar novamente com os seus pais e amigos.

Precisamos lembrar das meninas e mulheres migrantes e engajar-nos nesta luta. Lembrar delas não só no dia de hoje, pois a luta dessas mulheres em ter a sua dignidade restabelecida é diária, e o direito de migrar e de proteger a sua vida perante às perseguições são um direito de todo ser humano, independente do seu gênero, da sua cidadania ou do seu “status” perante a sociedade.
