É chocante ter que colocar em palavras o que provavelmente cerca de 200 crianças solicitantes de refúgio no Reino Unido estão vivenciando diante do descaso não só do país, mais a total inércia e precarização da comunidade internacional em levar em consideração as milhares de crianças migrantes como sujeitos de direitos que buscam refúgio e uma infância segura e autêntica. Há uma infância migrante sendo exterminada e desaparecendo diante dos nossos próprios olhos.

O ministro britânico, Paul Scriven, veio a público nesta semana com a notícia de que 200 crianças solicitantes de asilo desapareceram depois de serem colocadas em hotéis administrados pelo Ministério do Interior do Reino Unido. Ele ainda acrescentou que a esmagadora maioria das crianças desaparecidas – 176 de 200 – eram de origem albanesa. De acordo com a força policial de Sussex, o Ministério do Interior começou a hospedar estas crianças em hotéis nas cidades de Brighton e Hove em julho de 2021. Atualmente, existem seis hotéis do Ministério do Interior para crianças migrantes desacompanhadas no país, uma forma de detenção migratória disfarçada e extremamente cruel.

Diversas ONG’s, como a “Adolescent and Children’s Trust (TACT)”, há meses estavam  repetidamente levantando preocupações sobre o desaparecimento de crianças nestas acomodações e se ofereceram para ajudar o Ministério do Interior a mantê-las seguras em casas de acolhimento, mas o governo rejeitou essas ofertas. Dois homens sob suspeita de tráfico humano foram presos depois que crianças migrantes hospedadas em um hotel foram vistas entrando em seu carro. Mas até o momento, nenhuma acusação de sequestro ou tráfico humano de pessoas foi formalmente constituída.

Apesar da escassa cobertura da mídia brasileira sobre este caso, sentimo-nos na missão de vir a público questionar: Onde estão estas crianças? E mais do que isso, o que estamos fazendo com a infância migrante em todo o mundo? Como manter centenas de crianças vulneráveis em hotéis, sem os seus pais ou guardiões legais, pode ainda ser encarado pela comunidade internacional como uma política migratória?

 O governo britânico precisa ser legalmente responsabilizado.
