Ele tinha um nome. Moïse Kabagambe. Fugiu dos conflitos armados no Congo em 2011 e chegou ao Brasil ainda criança, acompanhado de sua mãe e irmãos. Moïse e sua família receberam do Brasil o status migratório de pessoas em situação de refúgio. Imagina o alívio e a esperança que rodearam ele e a sua família naquele momento, pois finalmente iriam ter a oportunidade de recomeçar as suas vidas. Vieram para o Brasil, aquele país no qual as pessoas dizem que são abraçadas e acolhidas por todos. Sem distinção.
Ele era um refugiado, negro, jovem e trabalhador; recebia diárias no quiosque Tropicália, no posto 8 na praia da Barra da Tijuca. Fugiu da guerra no Congo para morrer na velada barbárie brasileira, o país que ele tinha como Mãe. Racismo e xenofobia matam vidas, e com apenas 24 anos, Moïse foi espancado até a morte e amarrado a uma escada por cobrar ao seu patrão as diárias atrasadas.
“Ai, Brasil…o Brasil é uma mãe: abraça todo mundo”, era o grito dos seus familiares entre lágrimas durante o enterro do jovem Moïse. É dilacerante ainda revivermos linchamentos públicos com vidas negras no Brasil do século XXI. Não há palavras que expressam a indignação, a dor de seus familiares e a barbárie que Moïse foi submetido. Mas há perguntas que precisamos fazer: Até quando vamos continuar a sustentar a falsa narrativa de que o Brasil é um país acolhedor? Para quem escolhemos ser acolhedores?
Moïse saiu do seu país porque QUERIA VIVER; mas o racismo e a xenofobia na pátria chamada Brasil o impediram. A morte de Moïse é um retrato brutal do atual país. Mas o outro Brasil, aquele que ainda luta e acredita na humanidade, esse pede hoje justiça para Moïse Kabagambe.
