Nessa semana em que somos convidados a refletir sobre a luta e a resistência dos povos indígenas em nosso país, é importante recordarmos que as dificuldades que uma pessoa migrante ou em situação de refúgio enfrenta, podem ser duplicadas quando este indivíduo além de ser migrante, é também uma pessoa indígena. Sejam eles migrantes indígenas do nosso território nacional, ou migrantes indígenas provenientes de outros países, como o povo Warao da Venezuela; os povos indígenas nos ajudam a rememorar que nós seres humanos, estamos todos sujeitos às travessias.

As barreiras enfrentadas por este grupo de migrantes indígenas vão além das fronteiras estatais. Estas barreiras são muitas vezes obstáculos intangíveis, como as dificuldades de comunicação linguística e cultural; palpáveis, como a vulnerabilidade social, a fome e a miséria vivenciada pelos diversos grupos de indígenas migrantes; e desumana, quando o Governo brasileiro mesmo sabendo da existência destes migrantes indígenas que vivem nas ruas das nossas cidades, não assegura a vacinação eficaz e prioritária destas pessoas em meio a pandemia funesta que assola o país.

Condições inseguras e insalubres em centros urbanos, violência sexual contra meninas e mulheres indígenas e migrantes, tráfico humano durante a travessia, racismo e preconceitos relacionados aos seus valores e identidades, são alguns dos diversos riscos cotidianamente e historicamente experenciados por estas pessoas. A migração indígena não é um fenômeno novo e precisamos expandir institucionalmente o conceito histórico do que vem a ser uma pessoa em situação de refúgio. Muitas vezes, este conceito se detém e é aplicado apenas às pessoas que fogem de perseguições em ambientes de guerra e de conflito armado, invisibilizando por outro lado, uma abordagem para outros povos, como os indígenas migrantes, que também são perseguidos, injuriados e dizimados há séculos em nossa história humana.
